Meaning
The meaning of life is probably the most elusive of things to find. Unlike religions, which prescribe the same meaning for all, based upon ancient myths, we are of the view that it is up to each individual to find their own meaning. Although more difficult than being handed it on a plate it is ultimately more satisfying, as personal meaning is significant to the individual and has taken great thought and consideration.  There are many places to find your own meaning in this life; here are just a few.
- Environment - The natural world is precious, and vital, to us all. Great significance can be found in that realisation and the quest to maintain and preserve the delicate balance of the environment, including looking after all the millions of species with whom we co-exist as well as the lands and seas.
- Human rights - Even in this "modern" age many people are born into or live lives of unending oppression, poverty and suffering. The drive towards a world where all people are free and equal and have the opportunity to live in peace and prosperity, irrespective of their political or religious beliefs is, for many people, at the heart of our existence.
- Heritage - We are all only here on this world as a result of the repeated continuation of life by a vast line of ancestors stretching far back into the past. Many of these may have given their own lives in sacrifice in order to ensure the next generation continues. Taking part in bringing up the next generation can be a cogent and compelling reason for many.
- Arts - It is not just our continued existence which can be important but the quality of that life. Life can be greatly enhanced by extending beyond the mundane to endeavours within the Arts, whether it be painting, sculpture or entertainment.
- Cosmos - With our current knowledge of the origins of life and the extent of the universe we are aware that we are a minute part of existence. Finding out about and exploring the remainder of the cosmos has such immense significance and meaning, that would be wasted if we don't make the most of any opportunities.
- Knowledge - The universe is such a wondrous and complex place that there is so much to know about it. The search for understanding and awareness has great meaning not just for the individual, but also for the future progression of mankind.
- Service - Everybody needs some help at some point in their life whether it be for education or due to health reasons or poverty. Recognising that we are all part of a community and that there are opportunities to help other people when we can can also give meaning to life.

Purpose of Life |
The purpose within a person's life is how the individual decides to apply their self to the meaning they find; how they decide to spend their life. Like meaning itself purpose could take many forms, such as managing the environment, promoting human rights, bringing up children, becoming an entertainer or a scientist or doctor or astronaut.
